Vipassana Meditation UK Offering courses in Vipassana Meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin Updated on 14-May-2012 |

All courses offered at the Dhamma Dipa Vipassana Meditation Centre as well as those conducted at various parts of the UK are conducted by assistant teachers of S. N. Goenka using audio and video tapes of Mr. Goenka's instructions and discourses.

Various old student courses, including 10-day courses, are being held at Dhamma Padhana, adjacent to Dhamma Dipa, for students who meet these requirements . Please click here for more details.
All ten day courses begin on the evening of the first day and end on the early morning of the last day.

All courses are run solely on a donation basis. All expenses are met by donations from those who, having completed a course and experienced the benefits of Vipassana, wish to give others the same opportunity. Neither the Teacher nor the assistant teachers receive remuneration; they and those who serve the courses volunteer their time. Thus Vipassana is offered free from commercialisation.
New students
- Those who have not completed a 10-day Vipassana Meditation course with S.N. Goenka
or his Assistant Teachers.
Old students
- Those who have completed a 10-day Vipassana Meditation course with S.N. Goenka
or his Assistant Teachers.
10-day courses
are an introductory course to Vipassana Meditation
where the technique is taught step-by-step each day.
The courses begin after a 2-4 pm registration period and
orientation, followed by 10 full days of meditation, and
end the morning of the 11th day by 7:30am.
10-Day self course at a centre
These courses are for students who have completed at least 3 10-day courses with
S.N. Goenka or his assistant teachers, are trying to maintain daily practice and are trying to keep
all precepts to the best of their ability. They should not have practised other meditation techniques since
their last course. Admission is at the discretion of an Assistant Teacher.
10-day courses for Old Students
10-day courses for Old Students have the same timetable and discipline as 10-day courses. These courses are open to serious old students who have completed at least three 10-day courses and one Satipatthāna Sutta course, have not been practising any other meditation techniques since their last 10-day course, have been practising this technique of Vipassana for at least one year, are trying to maintain the five precepts in their daily lives, and trying to maintain daily practice.
Special 10-day courses
have the same timetable and discipline as 10-day courses.
These courses are open to serious old students
who have completed at least five 10-day courses and one Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta course, are trying to maintain the five precepts in their daily lives,
and maintain daily practice for at least 2 years. Application for these courses must be made with a
Long Course Application Form.
Applications must be submitted well in advance as
processing may take some time. Students who speak neither English
or one of the other announced course languages may apply for the
course, however acceptance into the course will depend on the
availability of required course materials, suitable translators
and permission of the teacher conducting the course.
10-day Executive courses
are an introductory course to Vipassana Meditation especially for business executives
and government officials where the technique is taught step-by-step each day.

Old Student short courses
(1-3 days) are for any student who has completed the 10-day course with
S.N. Goenka and his assistant teachers. All old students are welcome to
apply to attend these courses, including those where it has been some
time since their last course.
General Service Periods
Are reserved for the maintenance of Dhamma Dipa and are open for old students to attend. All kinds of projects are undertaken, such as gardening, office work, construction, cleaning, cooking and painting. Whatever your particular skills or abilities, your help during these work periods is always welcome. You can choose to come for the whole time or only part of it.
Young Person`s Anapana Courses
are available for teens in different age ranges
from 12-18 years old. Their parents/guardians do not have
to be Vipassana meditators.

are open for all children aged 8-11 years old who wish to learn to
meditate. Their parents/guardians do not have to be meditators.
